What is the best handheld chess computer? Does anyone know what the best handheld chess computer is for under 30 (about $55)?

Talking LCD Chess I hear the Talking LCD Chess computer is pretty good. (1700(?) USCF). Other than that and buying a Zire or something. If it doesn't have to be a handheld, check EBAY for older laptops. I picked up a Pentium 90mhz with 1 GB HD and 16mb ram for 100.00. It is used only as a chess computer. 100 bux for a borderline grandmaster isn't bad.

I have the handheld talking LCD, it's ok I guess, but even w/ the sound turned off it still makes beeps when you try to move your piece to the correct square. though their ar 2 versions, a $50 & a $30 version- i have the $30. the higher priced one may be better i don't know. I'll sell & ship you mine though:)

How about a palm? It might be a little over budget, but palm is what I'm using.
I see local vendors selling used black-and-white-only palms at $20 to $50. Sure they have limited memory and cpu power, but I think they are move flexible. I like PocketChess Deluxe as I can download multiple games in PGN form.

My suggestion is just buy a cheap entry level palm when it is on sale. I believe there are some models below $100.
