89 ( +1 | -1 ) Help needed with analyzing a gameI recently played a game against poisonedpawn78 and lost. I'm just wondering where exactly the game went bad for me. When I analyzed the move list with my computer it disagreed only with one move: 39. - Ne8? (39. - Bg5 with the idea 40.- Be3 if 40. b6. The Knight should be placed somewhere else than e8) but obviously it was too late allready, I would've lost my bishop anyway (the game move loses my d pawn too). Since I get to problems with this variation (white's a or b pawn tends to get passed) could you give me some hints how to play this variation of Ruy Lopez (I mean what should be the strategy for Black)
26 ( +1 | -1 ) I would look at movees 25-27. In that span of three moves you undoubled your opponent's pawns, wsasted a tempo moving your king and moved your knight off it's dominating outpost. Rf6-g6 looks pretty good to me somewhere in there.
22 ( +1 | -1 ) Nh5after Nh5 you're losing, simply because you have nothing to put against white's attack with a4. The plan with Nh5-f4 and playing f5 is too slow and hardly achieves anything. I'd have a look at Rfd8, with d5 to follow.
71 ( +1 | -1 ) I would have delayed exchanging Queens?Hi dozer, Great game and I like the position for both sides though I would prefer to play on the black side. Though I am no expert in the Ruy Lopez I have been playing it of late as black. I would like to play this line against poisonedpawn78 to see if I could hold the position together on the Queenside? I personally would have not exchanged Queens on move 17 as whites Queen seems to congest his pieces and if he exchanges then at least you are able to double rooks against his backward c-pawn on a semi-open file. The first time I ever saw this line was in a book many years ago and playing the line as black was the Great player Tal and it was a wonderful game.
19 ( +1 | -1 ) nightwalker ..from which point where you talking about playing the game with me ? from which move .. i would like to know , so i may see if i am willing to accept your challenge =)
36 ( +1 | -1 ) poisonedpawn78If you repeat all your moves up to move 16 then instead of Rac8 I may wish to deviate with Rfc8 though after I take a closer look I may just copy Rac8 but after that I would play the game as if it were my own.........Now I leave this decision up to you. nightwalker
65 ( +1 | -1 ) Hey, great!!Thanks for all this input!! I was losing my hopes getting any answer, but this is great! Thanks gambitnut, swindel and nightwalker for those ideas. I'm not a master of plans (I'm still learning strategy), that's why I was making those bad moves.. Hope that challenge isn't a private one so I can view it and learn something from this opening!
9 ( +1 | -1 ) here is the game ...board #431371
12 ( +1 | -1 ) ThanksI will watch it with interest
35 ( +1 | -1 ) Hmm..So this game poisonedpawn78 vs. nightwalker has ended, it seems that Black won, anyone cares to comment it?
Kind Regards, Dozer
17 ( +1 | -1 ) Wellin the final position White is winning, but poisonedpawn78 timed out in all of his games. Hope nothing bad has happened.
82 ( +1 | -1 ) I got in trouble after.....I decided to advance my pawn on the queenside with 18.....a5 thinking of course that after my b-pawn fell I would be able to recapture white's e4 -pawn only I did not take into account that poisonedpawn78 had also seen that at the end of the combination white could indirrectly protect the e4-pawn due to the Bishop on b5 would be able to squewer my Knight(e4) and Rook(c2) which meant that I was now in a lost position. So I throw everything into tactic's to try and get some sharp play. P.S. poisonedpawn78 did not timeout in this game he resigned! Sorry to hear that he has timed-out all his other games.
2 ( +1 | -1 ) My mistakehe resigned all of his games.
